Time does fly and now we are in the season of changing colors, cooler air and the summer seems to have burned away in a flash. As part of seasonal holidays, I attended the National Auctioneer Convention in Grand Rapids and then promptly went off exploring other nations, cultures and thoughts with a visit to Europe to join my daughter.
It has been a while since the last email and the Florida Auctioneer board has been going through transitions, learning, growing and all the while advancing, with new ideas and technologies. The full board, executive directors, and individual committees have had monthly and sometimes weekly conference calls and meetings. We have so much to be excited about, from updates using social media, to learning from other state associations and each member sharing focused skills.
We are blessed to have the opportunity to consult with Kathy Baber in the transition to update our association, our membership, resetting our quick books, and bringing along her impressive organizational skills. She has been aggressively moving us in the right direction.
Chris Fisher, Alan Frenkel and KC Daniels worked diligently to update the by-laws that will be sent out for the membership review and vote at the general meeting.
Myers Jackson, as President Elect, is working to put together the November Auction that will be celebrating the FAA’s 50 years. With his national involvement and contacts we are pleased to have lined up three amazing headline speakers for Orlando. Sara and Beth Rose have been working diligently on the Florida Auctioneer Contest. We are proud of Beth Rose as the National Auctioneer Champion, and Sara Rose as the first runner up. They are going to organize such an incredible Florida Auctioneer contest.
David Dybas is working with Rose White and me on the Fun Auction and we are going to be doing it live and online, so please gather your items and send photos and descriptions so we can add them to the catalog and we will promote your company.
Each board member offers so much. Don Cotton has been busy working with the Legislative directions, Rick Eberhart has been a benefit in so many ways and I so appreciate his editing skills. Craig Fleming with his international consulting skills and David Bradshaw is ever ready with all including the website. Plus we have Michael Garner Past President working on the Lewis C Dell award and helping with past presidents for elections.
Each member of the very active board also participates in various committees. Elections will be held at the November convention and I would encourage each and every one of you to step into the ring. It is an amazing time in our industry and this opportunity to participate with leaders that help shape the future. As Myers said: “we have a great team.”
